Seneca College SCA Artists

End and Begin

Journal Entry: Fri May 2, 2008, 3:35 PM
:iconchibizaki:

First, I would like to congratulate all those who graduated from their programs and for those that successfully completed another year. Well done!

Finally, I, the founder of this community, would like to announce that I am going off to China for employment ( [link] ), and as such I am stepping away from my duties as admin. 3 lovely volunteers have come forward to be the new admins and they are:

:iconengel-of-the-wired: (graphic design)
:iconcharcoal-gray: (graphic design)
:iconbunnygrandravine: (animation)

I decided to have 2 from graphic design since no one from DMA wrote to me. I'm sure they will take good care of this place.

Thanks to all.

New admins NEEDED ASAP

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 20, 2008, 1:13 PM
Some changes made.

(this will temporarily be on the main page until there is a replacement for me :iconchibizaki:)

I require new admins to take care of this account as I will no longer be a student of Seneca officially. I may be going out of town next month so please reply swiftly if possible.

I found that this community is largely animation oriented and thus would like to make it a little more diverse and well-balanced by getting more graphic design and DMA people. So...

I would like 3 admins: 1 from Animation Arts, 1 from Graphic Design and 1 from Digital Media Arts. I would like it if the 3 of you were willing to communicate with each other (it can totally stay within DA if you're not comfortable meeting in person) in order to make this place a bit more friendlier to those not in animation (people might get the wrong idea that it's only for animation just because there happens to be more members in this program at this moment in time). I chose those because they are the longest running programs within the SCA and all the other programs are kind of like branches of them.

I would like it if applicants were people who just finished first year, going into second year. Why? Because you already know some people within your program enough to promote the place and can still manage the place for 2 more years. 2nd year going into 3rd years are welcome to apply too.

Requirements (in no particular order):

You MUST

-NOT MAKE THIS ACCOUNT DIE or I shall ask to have someone else take over because I will be keeping an eye on it as the creator.

-keep checking this thing in order to add new people and preferably do a better job than me about the deviations thing.

-be an active person overall on DA because that would mean you come back here often.

-have good interpersonal skills (being prompt with replies and communicating to people well and diplomatically).

Duties

-check the account regularly (I will give you the password and stuff if you decide to do it)

-add the members on the main page to devwatch list.

-update and add icons to the main journal entry if any students from the SCA programs want to be added. They have to actually be in the programs or alumni in order to be added. No computer science, or biology or nursing or whatever else Seneca program that has nothing to do with Visual Art.

-note community members asking if they would like to submit any work to be added to the account (maybe note them once or twice per semester).

-Pieces posted should display professionalism (like the quality doesn't need to be OMFG but it shouldn't be something ripped out of a sketchbook, wrinkled, out of focus (unless it's depth of field or something) or figure drawings that aren't cropped and colour adjusted. Basically should look like something you'd want to see in a portfolio. Also if it's figure drawing, no amputated people (healdless, feetless, handless). Studies are fine) I'm sure you'll get the right idea if you look at the current gallary.

-Credit the original artist in the artists comments section and tell viewers to direct favs and comments to the original piece. Give the link to original piece. See any of the comments section to any of the deviations in the gallary.

-message people who accidentally faved the work on this account to fav the original work instead. If they have both of them faved (some people do both), then that's fine.

-move icons of graduates to appropriate place in the alumni section.

-answer any questions that prospective students may have about your program. if you don't know then direct them to the proper website that has contact info of the appropriate people they need to speak to.

-optional: perhaps write new articles about exciting projects that happened in your program (see NFB journal entry).

-optional: try and think of ways to make this place better (I know it's a hassle. I was quite lazy with this so don't worry too much about it).

Please note me if interested.

I ( ) apologize for the relative inactivity as of late. I have been sick with a fever since April 26, and a very bad cough still persists to this day as the result.

Anyway...

I just wanted to say congratulations to the students that graduated from their respective programs. Good luck with your careers! You will be missed...

I think and are the only ones that I know of that are actually part of this community that are now grads. I apologize if I've missed anyone in another program that has graduated. Please let me know. You deserve to be recognized.

Also congrats to those that completed another successful semester. From the kinds of artwork I've been seeing submitted by all of you (both on DA and on the blogs), I'd say you've all done a wonderful job and shown much progress and improvement.

Keep posting.

Mini Problem

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 15, 2007, 7:58 PM
I'm encountering many people who fav the pieces without really reading the description and so the original artist is not getting the fav...

I've been sending notes to these people but they don't seem to "get it" that this is a community/club account.

At least the comments can be turned off...

Any and all suggestions appreciated.
